Through his company, Balance Lab, he works with those interested and engaged in their own aging process and guides them toward greater ease, mobility, and confidence in daily life. His work focuses on undoing or unlearning the conditioned patterns that keep us away from being at peace.

Patrick Mellen is a mindfulness and Alexander Technique teacher. He is the founder of Balance Lab, where he helps those interested and engaged in their own aging process build physical steadiness and mental clarity through practical awareness-based practices. He is certified through Alexander Technique International (2012) and certified to teach Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction at Brown University’s School of Professional Studies (2022).

Patrick’s work blends systematized body awareness with non-judgmental mindfulness to help people move through daily life with greater ease and presence. His approach is shaped by his early career as a performer, having appeared on Broadway, Off-Broadway, and in Broad City, which gives him an accessible, grounded teaching style that translates well to real-world challenges.

Originally from Ohio and now based in Brooklyn with his husband, Patrick teaches individuals, groups, and organizations, and focuses on how personal balance becomes a foundation for community connection and service.
